Tips for Online Ordering

Have you ever ordered something online, and were so excited for it to arrive, only to be disappointed in the fit, color, material, etc? Of course we have all had that experience. I have a few tips to prevent that from happening and to make your online shopping experience easier.

1. READ THE RETURN POLICY…make sure if you need to send the product back you get a full refund to your original form of payment, not just a store credit. Personally I don’t shop at stores that don’t refund back to your original form of payment. Also check to see how long you have to make the return and who pays the shipping to send the item back.

2. LOOK TO SEE HOW THE CLOTHES FIT THE MODEL…even though most models are teeny tiny, you can still get an idea of length and fit. If there are multiple pictures, click on all of them.. It’s so helpful to look at the item from all angles.

3. ZOOM IN ON THE PICTURE…you will be able to see small details that you might have missed by just looking at the pictures. I didn’t take my own advice and made this mistake when I ordered a rug. It had fringe on the ends that I didn’t notice. I ended up sending the rug back, which was a huge pain! Also if the item comes in multiple colors always look at the lightest color. You will see more details on a light colored product than a dark one. For example, I was looking at a black top I wanted to order, but I clicked on the white color to check out the details and saw that it had a lace around the neckline that I didn’t notice on the black color.

4. SHIPPING COSTS…check to see how much they charge for shipping or if you have to spend a certain amount to get free shipping. Sometimes it makes sense to add a few more items to your cart to get free shipping. Just figure out the math.

5. READ REVIEWS…I appreciate people who leave detailed reviews on fit and quality. Bonus points for people who include pictures. You can really learn a lot from other people’s opinions.

6. ALWAYS CHECK FOR COUPONS…check their site for deals and also go to sites like Retailmenot.com for coupons. I know it’s a pain to give out your email but you will get better deals if you do. You can always unsubscribe later. Also the best time to shop is usually Friday-Sunday. That’s when stores have the best sales.

7. LOOK AT THE SIZE CHART…Some stores medium is an 8-10 and some stores medium is a 6. This really is just a guideline because it’s so vague. I find reading reviews more helpful.

8. CHECK OUT YOUR FAVORITE INFLUENCERS…we are always doing try-ones and reviews on merchandise. We also tell you about sales and deals.
